Situated 25KMs from Malaga Airport, Fuengirola is one of the most popular destinations for visitors from the UK and Ireland. There are excellent train links from the Airport and there is a regular bus service into the city Centre. Its situated on the sea front and has a history dating back to Roman times and is still a working port for local fisherman. As a holiday Resort it offers everything that people looking for a “traditional” Spanish holiday could want.
Where To Stay
As one of the oldest Spanish holiday destinations there is absolutely no shortage of places to stay – from self-catering apartments to four-star Hotels. Many Hotels are situated right in the centre of town so there are numerous restaurants and bars are all within walking distance. There really isn’t a high quality five-star property but there are numerous good four-star hotels and in the Las Rampas Hotel you have an excellent three star property that is tremendous value for money. The Paseo Maritimo is the road that overlooks the Sea and there are several good hotels on that street. The las Palmeras and the Hotel Ilunion are two of the most popular but there is a lot of choice available depending on what you want to spend.
Golf Courses In Fuengirola
Fuengirola is perfectly situated for the golfer as its virtually surrounded by some of the Regions best golf courses. Closest would be the two courses at Mijas which have long been favourites with visitors. They are both flat and walkable unlike some of the other courses in the area like El Chaparral where a buggy is probably necessary. Torrequebrada is one of the oldest and most popular courses and is one that we usually play on a visit. Close by and within easy travelling distance are the three courses at La Cala which are set up in the hills and offer magnificent views as well as good tests of golf. Next door is Santana which is one of the best of the newer golf courses and well worth a visit. Cabopino and Calanova are at the budget end but are very good value for money and ideal to include in a package deal.

Fuengirola Nightlife
As one of the older resorts on the Coast Fuengirola has something for everyone. There is the famous Fish Alley which is packed with restaurants offering food from around the world and has several bars open till the early hours. A new development is Colon Square which despite its name is an elegant area with very good restaurants and bars. Near the sea front is the London Pub which is perhaps the most famous bar in Fuengirola and gets very bust most evenings. Heaven’s Gate is one of the most popular night clubs but there are several others to choose from.
Things To Do In Fuengirola
As you would expect from a coastal town there are great beaches and numerous water-based activities to enjoy. Jet skiing is very popular and there are numerous boat trips to choose from. The Bioparc is a very modern “natural” zoo where the animals and visitors get very close to each other. Its an ethical zoo where the animals are not kept in cages and you get an idea of how they live in the wild. Fuengirolas history can be discovered by visiting the Sohail Castle or Roman remains at the Finca Del Secretario.
