Benalmadena sits in between Fuengirola and Torremolinos about 12 Kms from Malaga Airport and has developed into a major tourist destination. Its one of the oldest inhabited regions on the coast having been populated since the Bronze Age due to its location and excellent natural harbour. It has the same great climate as the rest of the Costa del Sol and with numerous tourist attractions as well as the nearby golf courses it is well worth considering for a golfing holiday. There are two main areas where the majority of the accommodation is situated close to the Marina or more towards the centre of the town.

Getting There

Flights are available from most UK and Ireland Airports into Malaga and Benalmadena is about twenty minutes from there.

Where To Stay In Benalmadena

As a leading holiday destination there are numerous different types of accommodation available. Whilst there is not a five-star Hotel in the Resort there are some outstanding four star properties and many three star and self-catering apartments. One of the best areas to stay is around the Marina and the Mac Puerto Marina Hotel is very popular and its easy to see why. It was recently renovated and its location overlooking the Marina and within a few minutes’ walk of the beach makes it the ideal spot for a golfing break. Many of the other Hotels are a few yards further towards the centre of town and the The four star Hotel Ibersol Alay hotel has long been a popular choice for golfers as its within easy walking distance of both the Marina and the centre of the Resort.

Golf Courses In Benalmadena

There is no shortage of courses to play on within easy travelling distance of Benalmadena and it would take several visits to play them all. Its debatable which is the best course to play and picking five of them to play on a seven-night holiday is no easy task. The oldest course would be Torrequebrada and its been a favourite for years with UK golfers. There are 3 exceptional courses at the La Cala resort that provide a touch but spectacular challenge. Santana is next door to La Cala and is one of our favourites. Mijas is a lot flatter but the two courses are still full of interest. When you then add in Calanova, Lauro, El Chaparral and Cabopino you will be assured of great golf whichever courses you choose.

Nightlife In Benalmadena

Its now a very popular Resort and there are two main areas that offer a great variety of places to suit all tastes and pockets. The Marina is surrounded by restaurants and bars and you can find everything from a burger to fine dining there. There are also bars and discos offering quiet luxury to lively bars for the late-night revellers. In the centre of the Resort there is the famous 24-hour square which is one of the liveliest spots on the Coast. The 24 hour café is a great place to finish the night off with toast and olive oil.

What Else To Do

Apart from the golf there are numerous places to visit to keep you entertained on your non golfing time. The Marina is an obvious place to have a look round and the ultimate in sight seeing is possible from the cable car ride that takes you up to the peak of the Mount Calamorro overlooking the Resort. There are several rides that provide a similar thrill at the Tivoli World Amusement Park and for those interested in marine life there is an excellent Aquarium to visit.
