Situated close to the A3 near to Liphook and Hindhead this four star property is more than just a hotel as it incorporates a very modern spa and championship golf course as well being set in 400 acres of picturesque countryside. Originally a 17th century farmhouse it has been skilfully modernised yet still retains its own original charm.

There are 150 rooms at Old Thorns Manor Hotel divided into three different types – Superior, Deluxe and Deluxe Family Rooms as well as Junior Suites. The Superior rooms have king size beds and a modern en-suite bathroom. They are furnished in a modern comfortable style and include a flat screen television, complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and safety deposit box. The Deluxe rooms are decorated in a similar style, are slightly larger but again offer the same high quality amenities. As the name suggests the family rooms feature a double and two single beds and are the largest of the room types. The junior suites again are larger and also include a Jacuzzi bath.

There is a choice of restaurants the traditional Kings restaurant and the Lantern room which serves high quality Chinese food. The Kings restaurant is well known for its carvery but also operates a menu that takes the best of local ingredients and turns them into exciting and innovative dishes. The Lantern room offers an imaginative take on modern and traditional Chines cooking. You can also eat pub classics in the sports bar whilst watching sport on the numerous television screens.

If you are looking for somewhere to relax then the Old Thorns Spa is the place to be. There are a wide variety of beauty and therapeutic treatments available to get you refreshed for the next days golf. For the more energetic there is an extremely well-equipped gym packed with modern equipment you can use whilst enjoying views over the golf course. There is also a twenty-metre swimming pool and a full range of classes and personal training available.

The golf course opened in 1982 with an exhibition match featuring Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros Isao Aoki and Open Champion Bill Rogers Whilst it would be hard to match the quality of that four ball you can certainly share the experience, they had of playing on an excellent golf course. Peter Allis designed the course and the par 72 is challenging however there are different teeing grounds to make the course playable for golfers of all abilities. The undulating fairways wind through mature trees with the course varying from parkland to heathland in style.
