Overlooking the Las Americas golf course the four-star Gara Suites Golf And Spa is perfectly placed for a golfing holiday in Tenerife. As well as being close to the golf courses as its situated in the Playa de las Americas it is also within walking distance of bars restaurants, the beach and the Marina.
Its an apart hotel with one and two bedroom suites and operates on an all inclusive basis. The 437 rooms are tastefully decorated in a modern Scandanavian style and have free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, large screen TV, mini bar, fully fitted bathroom and a large terrace either overlooking the golf course or the pool or the garden area. As an all-inclusive resort there are three restaurants on site as well as several bars.
The Las Americas golf course is the nearest with the club house being only 200 yards away. Its one of the best golf courses on the Island with water featuring on at least eight holes. It’s a par 72 course from the back tees stretching to 6600 yards and provides a good test of golf for players of all standards.
The Costa Adeje golf club has undulating fairways with greens that are normally on the quick side. The fairways are reasonably generous, but the greens are well protected by bunkers. Its one of Pepe Ganceda’s best designs and is a must play course on any visit to Tenerife for a golfing holiday. There are great views of the sea and in addition to the 18-hole course there is also a nine-hole course and excellent practice facilities.
Golf del Sur also has 27 holes and unusually has black volcanic sand in the bunkers which takes a bit of getting used to. Whichever combination of the loops of nine holes you play on the course will be about 6500 yards long with wide fairways so perfect for holiday golf. The course is another Pepe Gancedo design which opened in 1998 and if you can master the fast greens and avoid playing when the wind really blows it’s an enjoyable day’s golf.
Amarilla Golf has an eighteen-hole course and a nine-hole pitch and putt layout designed by Donald Steel which also opened in 1998. About six of the holes alongside the sea have an English “linksy“ feel to them with the par three fifth hole the standout. Here you have to hit across a rocky outcrop to a green about 145 yards away.
With four good golf courses to choose from an excellent recently renovated Hotel and the bonus of having an all-inclusive package this is a great way to experience what Tenerife has to offer for the golfing holidaymaker.
